Start A Home is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to increasing the attainability of homeownership for single-parent families by providing the funds for closing costs directly to deserving single-parent families thereby eliminating the final hurdle of the home-buying process.

Our History
Start a Home began as a simple idea: collect small donations to provide a single parent the means to own their first home. Each year that Start a Home has collected donations, mostly centered around the holiday giving season, there has been ever-increasing support from community members. It wasn't long before we decided that getting first-time homebuyers the extra capital so crucial to the process of homeownership is a year-long endeavor.
Today, Start a Home not only collects donations to support deserving first-time homebuyers but also develops a network of realtors to identify new recipients, and community members to help support those recipients after they purchase their new home. It's not about just getting people into their first home, but strengthening and expanding communities. One person at a time.
